Gerbils, hamsters and mice

How do you tell them apart?

They all look alike to me

they look quite different, well in my mind at least!

So what's the difference?

They all have four legs, short fur, eat the same things and run around on those wheel things.

Oh and cats like to eat them

Hamsters don't have tails, gerbils and mice both have tails, but a gerbil's tail is furry, and a mouse's tail is not.

And rats are bigger versions of the above!!!!

hamsters don't have tails, or long tails even and are diff colour to gerbils and mice apart from that i've got it in my head that gerbils are similar looking to mice but bigger with a longer tail, but then i could be imagining that, i am tryign to remember my brothers pets from 25 years ago!

Mice tend to be a lot smaller as well.

Hamsters are more square shaped whereas gerbils are more elongated with a more prominent neck and longer face and long tails whereas gerbils only have little stubby tails. Gerbils also have bigger feet.

Welll apart from tails i believe hamsters are inserted anally by way of a tube .
Some say this is how the well know pop group the pet shop boys got their name.
And didnt richard gere get accused of partaking in this ?
Or maybe it was someone else .
