we have been trying for a child,,,my wife is now late about 8 days...shes getting very exited about it,but surely 8 days isnt too long to be late? i know very little about a womans menstrual cycle but i do know that previous partners have been late...what is the norm for a woman being late 2-3 days? maybe we should buy a pegnancy kit and that will tell for sure..her breasts are sore and she says she feels tired in morning and sick...

If you have been trying and your wife is now over a week late, my guess is that there is a very good chance she is pregnant. You can find out if you are pregnant on the day of your due period as the kits are very sensitive now days! First Responce is a good one!

Get a preg test now!! Its the only way to be sure. And then go to the Docs if it says positive, as they are sometimes wrong! I am often 8 days late but that is typical for me- if your wife is usually like clockwork then she will know if something is up. Also, I know it's not what you want to hear but try not to celebrate until the 3 month point..!

taking a test (or waiting til a baby comes out) is best way to discover if there is a reason for late period.

Some women are often that late and their cycles vary, but if your wife has a regular cycle then she may well be pregnant.

Buy a test, best time to do it is first thing in morning with the first urine of the day as any hormone is more concentrated

As has been said luckyman, a woman's cycle can vary, but if your wife is usually regular, then yes, there's a good chance of her being pregnant. Most pregnancy testing kits are pretty accurate these days, and your wife could do one now. Best of luck.
