By holding a small bag of frozen peas against the bruised area as soon as possible should alleviate a bruise. Also if you are on Warfarin tabs to thin the blood this can be another reason.

In my teenage years I was always bruised. Someone would point one out or I would discover one myself never knowing how they came about and just thought "O I must have banged myself" but I could never remember doing. As today I notice one on the inside of my forearm, anyway. When I had my first child it was discovered that I have Thrombocytopenia which explains why I was/am always bruised. Maybe you should check out your blood count too.
I've always bruised easily and healed very slowly, had lots of nosebleeds etc... I've still got a light bruise from when I smacked my leg into something, must have been about 3/4 months ago now.
I remember my mum threatening to march down and see a teacher once as my legs were in such a state after a swimming lesson she wanted to know what the hell had happened, it was just from getting in and out the pool while learning to dive.
I react badly to cuts and such as well, my whole hand swelled up after playing with my friends dogs and puppy in chewing mode.
I have a low platelet count which was found when I tried to give blood and platelets which kinda made sense of it.
