Nearest and dearest
They dont make comedy like that any more,The interaction between Jimmy and Hylda absolutely great although I believe they hated each others guts. Also Walter how did he keep his face straight. Anyone else stuck in the same time warp as me? I read somewhere that Hylda Baker was talking about sueing Granada because she thought they had pinched her act for Hilda Ogdens mangling of the language. When they explained it was Mrs Malloprop who had inspired them she replied that she would sue her as well. Bravo Hylda.

oh shut up, yer big girl's blouse!
Hilda lived nearby and my mum and dad went to a party at her house.
He tells a few funny stories of that night and says she was very kind. She only ever drank champagne apparently!
She invited them to her house whilst in a club. She invited everyone in the bar too. She wasn't drunk or anything but did it quite often.
My dad said she always seemed a bit lost - on her own, without friends.
It's sad isn't it?
