I have recently moved into a flat in london, and out of my window about 30 metres away there is a mobile phone mast. Whenever i have my cd player on, but nothing playing, there is constant interferrance coming loudly through the speakers - as if a mobile phone is about to ring, but constantly, when there are no mobiles in the house. Should i be worried?? I have heard cancer scares etc about this sort of thing and im not sure what to do - is there any sort of meter that i can get hold of to test the strength of the microwaves in the room?! I need to know if this is a health hazard or not - would it help if i moved to a room at the other side of the house which is further away or would this make no difference?? Also, my cd player doesnt work in this room properly (keeps cutting out for about 5 seconds about every 30 seconds) but it does in every other room, plus my room is the only room where i cant get a picture on my television - is this anything to do with the mobile phone mast?? Im too scared to sleep in my room in case its frying my brain and need to know how i can detect whether the level of radiation or whatever it is in my bedroom is safe. thanks

The first thing i would do mate is get the local council's enviromental health officer in. Dont' let them leave until you've shown them everything that is wrong and make them document it all. as to an answer for is it doing you any harm, there has been nothing conculsivly proved yet but i for one wouldn't hang about for love nor money Health before wealth...
30m are you shore!! nearer 60-70m love!! has any other reserdents living close bye experensed the same thing? and they are not microwaves they are electromagnetic waves and they produse a electromagnitic force (e.m.f) i think
Mr Gregory - how patronising your response, yet how much your basic grammar leaves to be desired! The lady in question was correct in her mention of microwaves - GSM telephony is based on this pulsed microwave radiation. And i would certainly agree that she has a right to be concerned. The mobile phone industry is one that makes an awful lot of money - I wouldnt be surprised if the long term effects of this radiation were something which is publicised as little as possible. One only has to think of the Thalidomide tragedy - the result of something being widely used without sufficient prior research and investigation.
