... are there any answerbankers out there can tell me if they are paying about 400 per year for water as I do ? ( I am living alone in a flat, out working five days a week ) Seems a bit steep to me. I wonder how it compares with an average. Thanx in advance !
That's a lot . I had a recent bill for 111 for 6 months . I too live alone in a one bedroom flat but don't work - not that i think that really matters . It's washing machines , showers / baths which cost rather than kettles that add up .
We are not metered so can't really compare, but I did have a friend, a few years ago, who was metered and managed to get away with 5 a month. She was a bit tight admittedly, but she had to use a washing machine, shower etc (yes she was always clean!), so I think 33 a month which is what you are paying, seems a lot.
Sounds a lot- I pay 600 but that's for a band D property. My water rates have increased by nearly 25% in the last 2 years and apparently there's worse to come- yet United Utilities are making huge profits. I think the water companies are fooling the regulators
I currently pay 460 per annum and as there is just lil ol' me here, I'm having a water meter fitted soon.... The Water Company have advised me that my bill should then drop down to about half of that (obviously this depends on usage).
You should constantly shop around for better deals when it comes to utilities. As the market is always changing and the industry is very competitive there will always be a better deal to be had somewhere else.
if you do manage to find one, you will automatically put yourself in a stronger position with your existing provider as they will be much more likely to compete to KEEP your business.
