I remember Ghostbusters from a few years back, where the lads discovered pink goo running under new york, and it turned out to be an ectoplasm that drew its strength from hatred and ill feeling circulating round the city.
I kind of get the feeling that this type of organism would do well in a city where there were a lot of ebayers. I've been doing it for years, and count myself among the majority who really only want to help people out. Ok, it can be profitable, but in many cases the only real payout is in knowing that someone has got hold of something they like or can make use of>I'm not a great believer in 'cutthroat business' or rampant capitalism.
But nonetheless, I found that there were quite a few people that were prepared, for the most whimsical of reasons, were prepared to leave a negative, damaging, and permanent comment to someone, for the whole world to see.
Is this the kind of world we want to create? Where people go around publically hurling abuse at each other? If someone has 100% positive feedback, of say 300 positives, what is going on in the mind of the person who leaves the negative? No one is going to avoid dealing because of that negative: they were just giving vent to their anger by damaging the other party. I know feedback has some place...but this is disgusting.

Totally agree. Unfortunately, there are a few stupid, nasty, intolerant people out there who have no respect for honesty, fair play or other people's feelings. It's despicable and contemptible.

I'll get off my soap box now!

I don't see a problem with leaving negative feedback if you have received bad service etc (people tend to leave positive feedback to ensure they get the same; it's not often that my feedback as a buyer - having paid within minutes, usually - appears before I have left feedback for the vendor), but I do agree that some of the complaints are ridiculous: especially those about high postage costs, which are nearly always advertised!
