I can't walk any distance without the aid of a stick and I've never had any problem when flying, tho some times they have given the stick an extra bit of a check. Jaclyn, my friends daughter who is cabin crew, suggested that I use a folding stick then if their is any problem they can put it in one of their flight lockers and return it on landing, but as I said I've never had any problem
I travel as a disabled passenger and need two sticks for any small amount of walking I have to do. They have to be put through the scanning machine with all my other bits and pieces . However, my husband suffered an injury while abroad one year and the airline refused to allow him to take his walking stick on board because they hadn't been advised beforehand. I would suggest you advise your travel agent or whomever you're booked with before you go.
A walking stick could potentially be used as a weapon so the answer is no as the do-gooders wouldn't want o compromise safety onboard. Ok im joking but itwouldnt surprise me anymore if indeed that were true.
i flown several times with my stick there has been no mention by any body at the air port or on the flight except that they like you to put it in the overhead locker so as not to trip anybody up.
i just came home from Italy on Sunday into Manchester
several flights had landed at once and there was a massive Que to get through passport control .
this very nice lady ( member of staff ) noticed me with my stick and kindly took me right to the front of the Que by a side route . So some time it can be a advantage to have a stick :-)
