Some confusion tonight about which was which.

Windy Miller was Camberwick Green, along with Jonathan Bell and (this is where it gets hazy) the firemen?

Trumpton, the fort.

Chigley, (near Camberwick Green, Trumptonshire), was the train - "Time flies by, when I'm the driver of a train....etc" (Please leave Half Man, Half Biscuit out of this for the moment.)

But which one had the factory and the five o'clock whistle when all the workers started to dance?

After finding the following website, I think that it must have been Chigley. Ahh, happy memories!

Thanks guys, great site too, Jansy.

I wasn't sufficiently socially aware back then to realise that

"Lord Belborough [of Winkstead Hall] is forced to attract visitors to help pay for the maintenance costs."

but the programme makers were pretty astute !!

You are a bit mixed up. Pippin Fort was in Camberwick Green and the Fire Station (Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble, Grubb) run by Captain Flack was in Trumpton. As the fire brigade got called out to .. well, anything but fires, my favourite quote is Capt. Flack answering the phone. " A fire? A real fire? Oh, a bonfire...well it might get out of control!!"
