Ants
6 Answers
I have black ants in one corner of my conservatory and am putting spray and powder down daily to kill them. I want to stop them coming in altogether and cannot find any holes or gaps where they may be getting in.
Does anyone know what I could do to stop them coming in? My Husband says that we cannot stop them and they will always get in. We have only had them while last summer and this summer have been wet. Thanks

when you find where they come in treat that area in and outside, if its a hole block it up with putty or something.
keep the floor clear of crumbs or anything that may encorage them to keep coming back.
the powder is rubbish , spray is your best bet

Hi,
The ants you have in your conservatory is the common black ant, lasius niger. The best products to use are not powders that will instantly kill the pest, but powders that rely on the foraging ants picking up the bait and taking it back to the nest to feed the queen. A product like this on the market today is called Agrothrin. You will also want to strategically use a residual insecticide in and around bins and sweet items as this will prevent foraging around certain points. A good product is called Protector C and both can be found at http://www.ppcsupplies.co.uk
