I'm going to be buy an mac soon and was thinking of getting an external hard drive to transfer files (pictures & music) over from my pc and for storage later on, but I was just wondering if my pc has a virus would that get transfered onto the hard drive then on to the mac. I know that mac's and pc's are different with virus's but i didn't want to damage the mac in anyway!
Also I have been looking at ex HD and I was looking at a WD but some of the reviews on amazon aint to clever, so now i'm leaning towards a maxtor, is this a reliable one?
A PC virus can not be transfered to a MAC at all so you'll be safe there, though you really should be ensureing your PC doesn't get a virus by having effective AV software installed on it.
I'd say both WD and maxtor are realiable hard drive brands
I work in a large computer section and to be honest we have had nothing but trouble with Maxtor internal hard drives. Not sure about the externals but I personally wouldn't touch them.
thanks for that another-view
are there any external hard drives that you would recommened
I'm now leaning towards WD Elements 500GB, but the more I look into it the more I get confused as every website has different reviews, it seems that every hard drive is not without it's problems, I think I just need to make a decision and keep my fingers crossed that it does the job.
