My neighbour is erecting a huge wooden building in their garden.We have not been informed that this was going to be built and I am wondering if this needs planning permission.

If you do not live in a conservation area or area of outstanding natural beauty (you will know if you do) then an outbuilding can be erected without planning permission or building regs provided:

*it does not cover more than half of the garden area
*do not exceed 4 metres in height with a pitched roof; 3.5 metres with a pitched roof
*more than 5 metres from the house
*not between the house and the main road
