Win 98 - How do i remove user password request on startup

I am running Win 98 which was a work network PC.  On startup it asks the following prompts which i currently OK and ESC through.

'Do not attempt to logon unless you are an authorised user' (I Ok this)

Then i get the network password login box

Username, Password, Domain

So i currently Escape this.  How can i prevent this from loading when i logon.  I want to just go directly to the post Esc desktop point each time.

The first part is easy. Make sure you have unchecked the box "Hide File extensions..." in explorer options, then do a search for *.pwf and delete any files you find (not exacty the world's most secure operating system).

Presumably you are not connected to a network, so to solve the second, right-click on the network neighbour hood icon, choose properties and remove the components to do with local area networks.

Sorry I can't be more specific, but it's many moons since I upgraded to XP.

Search as rojash says, but they are *.PWL files you need to search for.

Hi willow..try this..

 1If you are not on a Network, disable the Network Password Request by.double clicking the Control Panels Network Icon and choosing Windows Logon in the Primary Network Logon box...Click OK and follow any instructions.

 2.If you don't share your PC or everybody uses the same desktop...hit the Control panel's Passwords icon..under the User Profles tab...choose, All users of this computer use the same preferences and desktop settings...good luck..commoner ;-)
