bloody corsa

this bloody corsa will do miles and miles and miles, then for some reason starts spluttering really badly for a while someimes the fault lasts minutes, sometimes longer. please tell me how to solve this prolem before i go bleedin' crazy. thank you in advance.

dont know if its the same prob but I had a similar sounding prob on a volvo some few years back- turned out to be a fuel filter in the petrol tank or inline with the fuel line (cant remember which) had collapsed and was very occasionally starving the engine of fuel
