can you tell me if you can still get tax relief when you pay child maintanance.i know you used to get it but  then they stopped giving me the tax relief when they changed all the tax rules

any ideas anyone?

No, you can no longer get tax relief on maintenance payments. It was basically stopped in 1988, but arrangements in place at that time continued to get higher rate tax relief until it was stopped in 1999. I think the idea is that the child tax credit replaced this relief - this is paid to the person with whom the child normally lives, so is not much use to you I'm afraid.
