hi, the reversing sensors on my galaxy are not functioning. when you engage reverse they bleep continously for a few seconds then stop. they don't make any sound at all after that. any ideas welcome. thanks. doris.
With the systems we fit we normaly find thi type of fault is normaly a wire to one of the sensors, if there is no obvious damage to the wires then the bumper may have to come off to check the connections and to check continuity through the wires
Hi.
Thanks for the answer. Next question is, does anyone know where the unit is that all the wires go to? I have found the speaker, but cannot see where the sender has been hidden.
thanks,
doris
not so easy, its buried within the ford electrics, doubt its a wiring issue to the control unit, more likely to be the sensors or a general fault , thats if it is a wiring issue...what year is the vehicle ??
Hi,
its a 2003. I have removed all the plugs from the sensors and it is exactly the same. if it's going to be a problem I will buy one of those kits from e-bay for 25. and fit that.
regards,
doris
to be honest that would be the cheaper and easiest option, although vitually all factory fit ones have a larger hole than the aftermarket versions which can cause major problems...
Out of interest you say they were factory fit, was that the vehicle spec or fitted by the dealer..?
Hi,
It was factory fit, its the ghia, it also has two video screens built into the front headrests, which are wired through the seats abd it looks like the seats were made specially for them, si I would imagine it is all factory fit, including the front and back sensors.
thanks, doris.
ah,may be a problem then, no doubt they are all linked together , front and rear..cant help thinking it will end up at a dealer to sort it out..
I work in a bodyshop and sensors give us a major headache as regards replacing bumpers, all down to the hole size, like i said every aftermarket kit i have come across the sensors are always smaller and can never replace the factory fit versions.
Hi,
Thanks for the info.
I will probably buy an ebay kit and cut the wire on one of my sensors and see if they will work the new kit. if so, I will change them all around. could be the cheap answer.
thanks,
doris.
sorry to bear the bearer of bad news, but its not that simple..If it was that easy we would do it.
Fingers crossed you might be lucky but i wouldnt hold your breath..
