I have been to the pub on my own many times (traditional ones, not loud monkey music ones) minded my own business and sat in the corner with a pint of ale and a single malt chaser whilst attempting The Times crosswords, but have never been to a disco or the pictures on my Jack Jones.
Are such folk seen as weird, even though you do not know their personal circumstances?
I wouldnt go to a Disco or nightclub on my own -or anyone else for that matter -I feel it would look like i was wanting to be pulled..
Pubs -no prob at all -always someone who knows me and if they dont- they have my life story withing 5 mins and we're in rounds lol !!
I like chilling with a paper and a wee snifter and watching the world go by -very relaxing- dont do it much tho cos I cant trust myself to stop at one :0)
Dont do Cinema -attention span of a goldfish -I can just about manage Corrie -too much nonsense in my mind -needs a clear out lol
Actually, I loved to the pub in the afternoon too, just to have a pint and read a book, but I haven't done that since the smoking ban...I don't want to have to leave my table unattended everytime I want a smoke. :O(
In my younger days I arranged to meet some friends in a club. Unfortunately, I went to the wrong club and having paid an arm and a leg to get in, I forlornly wandered around hoping to spot anyone I knew.
As I was peering at the dancefloor, the local druggie sauntered by and asked me to dance. I politely declined and he uttered the immortal chat up line
"Dance with me or I'll glass you."
I want to know now how max "got her self into trouble" by going to a pub on her own :o)
I often used to go to the local pub on my own (not counting when I was working or running it) I've never been to a cinema on my own, but I don't like cinemas (I don't fit in the seats comfortably) so don't really go with people either and would never have gone to a club (disco!!) on my own back in the old clubbing days :)
Pub ... yes. Saturday morning shopping, gets to lunchtime, gasping for G+T ... pub ... and the eternal question of whether or not a girl on her own can invite the barman to "have one yourself?"
Never tried a disco on my own.
dont mind pub on my own as you get a chance to meet different folk that you might not normally chat to when with your friends .The cinema actually sounds like a good idea , if you go with a woman you tend to get distracted .
So im thinking the cinema might actually be a good idea , except its all in spanish here so no use for moi im afraid.
How easy it is for a man to go in to a pub on his own unoticed! I would love to do that! Being female I think I would feel slightly odd? Often thought about it! May be it's an age thing? Might try the paper and drink thing one day.
Hi,
I have been thinking of going to the cinema alone, there a couple of films that I want to see that none of myfriend are interested in watching. Do u think people will think I am wierd? I am 38 and female.
My brother moved to Ireland many years ago and I took him in my car, but I was late coming back and missed the boat I had to sit in Dublin for over 10 hours and could'nt drink as I was driving. The daytime was'nt so bad because I could walk around the shops etc but in the evening I had to go somewhere so I went the pictures by myself, it was awful never again.
BTW I went to the pub a while back and and after getting the round in I said to the barmaid "are you having one?" and she said "no, it's just the shape of this dress!" and slapped me.
leg, I think it's probably more accepted whilst on holiday ? I've always felt a bit awkward to walk in to a City bar, the times I'd have loved a drink too while shopping!
