Mouse in the flat!!!
Hi,
I moved in to the flat over a week ago and signed a tenency agreement for 6 months. Today I saw a mouse in my kitchen running all over my food!!!
Because of that I want to moved out asap and cancel my tenancy agreement!
Am I allowed to do that?

Get the pest controllers in (LL should pay) and get rid of the mice. It is quite a common problem so even if you do move, you can never be certain that your new place will not suffer from mice at some point in the future.
I had them in my last rented house and whilst I wasn't happy for a few weeks until I was certain they had gone, it never entered my head to move out! Anyway, at the place before that one we had ants in the ceiling which came through the light fittings and rained on your head everytime you had a bath. On that occasion I did move out temporarily until they had gone!

You can't cancel your contract because of your phobia - that is not your landlord's problem, it is yours to deal with yourself.
You should not leave food lying around in your kitchen - it should be covered up at all times. Flies are much bigger carries of germs than mice.
Every house has mice at some point, so you are going to have to find a way to deal with it, or you will be forever moving.

My food is stored away in the fridge or in containers so even if I did have mice (which I don't), they wouldn't be eating my food.
No, you can't cancel your tenancy agreement just because you've seen a mouse. What would you do if you bought a house and found mice, expect the vendors to give you a refund?

I was going to say get a cat as well, but that has already been suggested. There is nowhere on Earth which is rodent free, as mice have taken over the world. I once read that 25% of the world's food is either eaten by or contaminated by vermin, so let's all blame the price hike on that then, shall we?
By the way a mouse can fit through a 6mm gap, which is the same width as a BIC biro. Test all holes with your pen, and if that can get in, so can our furry little friends.
