Contents insurance
Can a few of you give me an idea of what you pay for contents insurance? I want to insure our possessions fo 50,000 and have been quoted from 9.30 a month to 21.45 per month! How can there be such a difference, the companies seem to all offer the same cover. What would you consider to be about right? It is a rented house and I want to insure our stuff and the carpets and curtains that belong to the property.

1st of all you cant insure the carpets, curtains & other stuff that belongs to the property as you have no insurable interest in them. it will only be your own belongings that are covered.
it is not unusal to find a big difference in prices between companies. some charge on the sum insured, so the more you cover the more you pay. others have a set sum insured (they will cover your contents up to their correct value up to a maximum of 50000) it also goes on your area, age, occupation etc, but between 10 & 20 per month sounds about right. dont be put off by the lower price- it wont necessarily be worse cover. just chech it has everying you need eg accidental damage cover, personal effects away from home & legal expenses (although this is really a waste of money!)
