Laptop Crashed

hi, my laptop has just stopped working, i have tried everything to start is back up again but all i get is a screen that asks me if i want to start it in safe mode, or from a point where is was not damaged, or start it as normal, but all of them dont do anything, i have gone into f9 and it says i have an error on my hard drive, im just wondering if there is any think i or anyone can do to get some photos back that are on there, any help would be most appreciated, thanks

oh dear - that doesn't sound good.

I was going to suggest checking the disc ... but if you can't even get to a comand prompt ...

it sounds as if your HDD is either corrupted ... or physically damaged.

you could try (or getting a chum to) create a knoppix startup disk

you can then use the CD to startup ... and if the files are still there copy them to a memory stick or external HDD.

it all depends on how you feel about getting your hands mucky

if it seems a bit daunting ... maybe a chum - or the final choice a local PC shop
