Best amount of calories to eat

Anyone know the best amount of calories to eat in a day if I am trying to lose weight.
Someone told me I should reduce them by 500 cals is this right which would be 1500 a day as I am a woman.

If you keep your lifestyle the same but eat 500 cals less a day you will lose two pounds a week.
However if you eat the same but go for an hours walk a day you will lose aboute 4 lbs a week.
Do both you will lose 6.
Also drink plenty of water. Aim for 2-2.5 ltrs a day. It will fill you up, detox your kidneys and raise your metabolic rate.

Sorry but this is all b*****ks, reducing your caloire intake is the begninning of starvation, your body will adjust to the reduction of energy you are giving it by slowing your metabolism and reducing your muscle mass - which require caloires to sustain. When you go back to eating 'normally' your body will then start storing the excess calories as fat. This is why so many people put on the weight they loose on a diet plus some more. The best thing is to stop OVEReating if you have been already and make sure you're eating a varied, healthy diet and then increase your physical activity to burn off the fat, the government recommends an activity to increase your heart rate for at least 30 mins once a day. This way you'll loose weight healthily and you wont put it back on again, result!
