Citroen Xsara 2.0 HDI 110 bhp white smoke from exhaust
Any ideas what the excessive white smoke might be. Only happens after engine been idling. and then accelerate, but goes after 50 yds. Head gasket checked & ok. Diagnosed faulty sensor regulating fuel/air mix; replaced & improved but not cured. Engine temp ok; oil/water levels ok. No need to be topped up. Performance/power not affected. Have been adding millers diesel additive to tank as recommended by garage + stopped using supermarket diesel. Feel sorry for vehicles behind me in traffic queues when they got windows down.

It's as if somethings built up & as soon as I put my foot on the accelerator all this smoke bellows out. I'd say about 90% of the time.as well. Doesn't happening when driving along quite merrily or when engine cold. I've just started it up and reved it, hing. Computer was cleared after sensor replaced. Don't think injectors have been checked. Last garage I took it to said was blue smoke & suggested several possiblities. However, I'm not convinced because oil level not going down. Not sure about smell of the smoke cos b4 I first took it to the garage a friend was stood behind the car to basically see how bad it was &he didn't say anything about any smell. What do you think - thanks for the reply.
check that the large inter cooler pipe & all other pipes haven't got any splits in them or have jubillee clips missing or loose, also check that none of the small vacuum pipes have come off but i doubt any of these have come off because the engine management light would come on,also i think there is a big black plastic air intake on top of the engine on these that's held on with about 4 bolts & very hard to pull off make sure that it is tight & secure.
