I believe you Sally. I have walked out of shops carrying stuff I had forgotten I was still carrying cos I'd been in there so long. I've walked out of Tesco with a jumbo pack of loo rolls that I'd hung on the back of my trolley.
I'm not quite menopausal, or demented, but 'accidents' do happen!
I was referring more to deliberate shoplifting though. Not exactly planned - but fully intentional.
Well to get it off my chest. Mine was 16 years ago. I had spent about 150 in a well known store, paid and was leaving with my 2 children aged 6 months and 2 and was stoppped cos I had a pair of trousers hanging off the handle of the trolley.
The store had a zero tolerance so I was carted off in a police van with the 2 children and locked in a police cell for about 3 hours before being released. The police were lovely to me and thought it was madness.
I went in sainsburys once and way overspent...I was so embarrassed that I didnt have the money, I told the cashier that my partner was waiting outside and that I would have to get the moeny from him...of course he wasnt there, I just wanted to get the hell out of there! What I didnt realise as I made my escape that I had hung several bags on my daughters buggy!!!! I got home as fast as I could...that poor cashier must have got in a lot of trouble over that! ooops!
I used to take sweets from the pick and mix in Woolworths when I was about 12 or so. But as I still have it on my mind I must be feeling guilty even now.
And no, I wouldn't take anything from a shop....it's bad!
:-)
daniela - that's sweet! But I think 90% of us did that - that's why I specified age 14+.
DocSpock - brilliant! Didn't they chase you or couldn't they be bothered? Most of the other people in the queue probably wished they'd done the same.
