all you can do is work through all the lex drivers for similar type and see
the good news is that after all that experimenting you won't have quite as much ink

I had a similar problem with my printer when I bought my new laptop. Windows vista managed to find a driver for it , although I had the set up disc anyway, but the blinking thing still wouldn't work. Like you I was determined not to waste the very expensive lexmark cartridges but in the end I gave up and bought a cheap HP printer from Tesco (less than 30) set it up no probs and am still using the same cartridges 3 months down the line and replacement cartridges are much cheaper and more readily available.
sorry ... not clear
vista comes with inbuilt drivers for lexmark - it could be that one of these will do the job .... but you'll need to work your way through them to see...
the other alternative if you have gallons of ink - is to google the cartridge type
(12A1990E ?)
and see what else uses it ...
