i've checked the wattage and it recommends a 10w bulb and that is what i have in the right &left rear lamps.
lamp holder was secure
with the engine running right works left doesn't
now when i swap the right bulb into the left nothing happens, but when i return it to the right socket, it lights!
maybe my socket or wiring on the left side is damaged! i've always being changing the left rear bulb very regular so there has always been something dodgey about it.

more suggestion are welcome, i might just bite the bullet and send it to a different garage....i just hate the idea of dropping it into a garage and in 1min they have it fixed and i look like a tool..........

Nkakamasembe suggestions "Confirm you are replacing with correct bulb wattage.some times printed on the bulb holder.
Ensure the bulb / bulb holder are not loose in their housing.
Stand back from car and check all rear lights nearside / offside beams are same individual system at a time and all together. Please keep engine running take care when reverse is checked.
For interests sake swap the bulb from good side see how long is lasts."

'my rear passenger side light blows almost every month! any ideas what could be causing it to happen? garage dude just replaced bulb or fuse so i have being doing that myself for a while but it isnt a good soln :('

You say that you have checked the bulbs ok, Have you checked that the bulb is a single contact not a double? are the pins on the body of the bulb off set or in-line? Does the earth to the light clean? is the connecting plug clean?, are the connectors that the bulb go into rusty? If so use sandpaper to clean, back to the earth, does ithe light Earth through the light body? check the No plate light bulb and connectors, and lastly is the light holder sturdy in its postion.
TWR just about sums up the options, corrosion is a common problem on bulb sockets/holders, not sure what make of bulb you are using but some of the cheaper ones are more prone to blowing...
