Stoke, I am so sorry to hear this. My great aunt is currently suffering this too (although she has in fact defied every prognosis). My mother in law died of this too - I was with her the day the doctor told her and it is probably the worst thing I have ever gone through in my life. However, I can only say from my experience, use the time you have left to love and laugh and reminisce. Be thankful of the time you do have left rather than to regret the time you won't have. The one thing my mother in law said to me is that she was glad to know and have time to say goodbye and tell everyone what she wanted. Years afterwards, after the death of my father in law, my husband said that he found the time with his mother knowing that the end was near helped him rather than the extremely sudden death of his father.

These are personal experiences though and everyone deals with it all differently.

Wishing you much love and strength for the weeks ahead.
I read your last post Stoke, and didn't reply because I thought I could add nothing more to what'd already been said.
I'm very sorry to hear about your dad, but although you're losing him, I'm sure he'll never be very far away. He helped to put you on this earth, and the only thing you can do, is to learn from all the good things that he taught you. His job's almost done now, and sad as it is, I'm sure that you'll put into practice all the things that you learnt from him. Bless you all. x

I'm very sorry to hear about the news of your dad.My father passed away last year in October, and my Mum and I still miss him dearly. He died peacefully in his sleep.
It's amazing how time flies.A year on and we still miss him.
I'm afraid that's just how life goes on.

As was previous mentioned, spend as much time as you can with your dad.It will be good to reminisce.
I loved my dad very much, and I'm sure you have much love for him.Thankfully, the night before my dad passed away,we both had a good chinwag, and had a really good laugh together as we looked back at our lives....my eyes are watering a bit now.....I am really happy that we had a chinwag now.Your father and mine will be sorely missed I know.I pray your dad lasts a bit longer than they suggest.
It will be heartbtreaking when he does pass away.
Anyway, I send my sincere thoughts to you and your family.
God bless you all....take good care
(((((((hug))))))))

stokemaveric, love, I've just seen your post and read all the lovely responses to it. I'm so sorry to hear about your dad - lots of us on AB know what you're going through. I'm sure your dear dad's time left will be filled with love and I pray that he won't suffer any pain. I guess you've got all the support you can for him and your mum, from your doctor and MacMillan nursing (they're wonderful). What more can I say? Everyone else have said it all - God bless. K xxx
obviously we're all thinking of you and your family, Stoke. look after yourself as you'll need your strength.

take care x

we are so proud of him how he has faced this illness he has fought everything that this battle has thrown at him but he is now finally losing the war.....thank you all so very much for your kind words once again.............
It's amazing how brave people can be when facing death - a lot braver and more stoical than us lot left behind!! Love, K xx
Sorry to hear your awful news Stoke, and I completely understand the shock you are in. It was the same with my father. After not being sure what was wrong with him and cancer having been ruled out...we were then told a couple of days later that he was riddled with it,and had a week to live!..The shock cannot be described...I can also understand how you can want to come online for comfort at this time, cos, the grief, and coping for everyone else in the family, can be very claustrophobic. All the best Linda
So sorry stoke to hear your heartbreaking news, treasure these last days, I'm sure he feels your love and will always be by your side. Take Care xx
Stoke - I understand how hard it is for you, but try to remember the times you laughed together, the times he helped you, the times he was rubbish at hiding the christmas presents, the times he drove you mad because he didn't know how to use the video recorder and you missed Die Hard (submit favourite film title..)... Live every moment and then reflect on the good times..

God Bless

Hippy xx
