What make is it and would you recommend it? I've never had one before, and am now totally confused by the choice on amazon!
The customer reviews often contradict each other!

Yes, I do and I wouldn't be without it. Mine is a medium sized Moulinex I bought from Asda, I think I paid around �35 for it.

well, some reviews say that the food cooks too quickly, and they hvae come home to charred remains!
Others have a double pot that leaks from one side to another.
Some say you need a keep warm facility - others don't.
Just wondered really if you are pleased with the one you've got!
Hi crisgal, yes I have. It's a Morphy Richards. Sizes vary depending on how many you need to feed. The smaller ones are handy if you have cooked something & need to reheat fast, as the inner ceramic dish will fit in to your microwave. Worth making sure you buy one with removable dish, some are not.

Mine has never leaked either.

I tend to just use mine in the Winter time, I prepare everything the night before and switch it to 'medium' heat before I leave for work in the morning and it's ready when I get home from work.

Yes, I am very pleased with the one I have, like I say, I've never had any problems and don't anticipate any for the furture either.

I reccommend a removable dish too....
Hi Lakitu, the charred food sounds odd? It may be they did'nt put enough liquid in, or may be had it on the high setting instead of the low or medium. Slow cookers don't need a lot of liquid, especially when you use frozen veg that of course retains a lot of frozen liquid. It's all trial and error at first, the books suplied will give you a guideline then you can tailor them to your own preferance. For instance, with 6 frozen pork steaks I chuck in a chopped onion and a handful of carrots & half a pint of thickish stock (granules ) It will look too thick and not enough, but what happens over cooking time is the stock will mix with the juices of the veg and meat and dilute.
