Selling a motor
About to sell our second car but, being a true Scotsman, don't want to include the whole 3/4 of a tank of petrol it currently holds. How would I take out 2 thirds of it leaving enough for the buyer to get home. The car is only going for 60 so with the extra petrol, the guy is getting an extra 15% free!
Thought about adding the cost of the petrol to the price......but is that too tight?
.......or am I just being petty?

If you have to stand on a chair to get sufficiently above the gas level, do it! Now suck! Watch as the gas comes up into the hose and starts to flow down the loop towards the ground. It will then start to fill the hose until the gas in the hose reaches the level of the gas in the tank. If you keep the free end of the hose high enough nothing will ever come out. If you stick the free end into a can and lower the free end and the can towards the ground you will see gas flowing into the can. When you feel that you have siphoned enough gas simply raise the hose and the can above the level of the gas in the tank and the gas will stop flowing. If you leave the hose in the can, submerged below the surface, gas will start to flow back into the gas tank of the car!
When you are finished, just lift the free end of the hose way up high and let the hose empty back into the car tank, yank it out of the tank and voila...
Speaking as Another true Scotsman , I alos agree, get that petrol out of there, and leave him as little as possible, hes too mean to spend a wad on a car, so he can buy hois own petrol, as long as he has enough to get hi rond the corner, F^%$ him, LOL.
You will need a thin but fairly firm tube, as most modern cars, have anti syphon baffles in the filler neck, so it has to pass threough this to get to that precious liquid, failing this just punch a hole in the tank about 2 inches form the bottom and jack up the other side, til you got what you want
