I have installed IE8 and don't like it and so wish to return to IE7. The microsoft website will not re-install IE7,, giving the reason that a newer version is already installed (i.e.IE8) I cannot remove IE8 using 'add and remove' as this will leave me with no IE access from which to download IE7. Any ideas to help this PC dinosaur would be appreciated (nothing to technical please) Thanks in advance

As far as I am aware, if you uninstall IE8 you are automatically left with IE7

However, you can install Firefox first, so you at least have the security of knowing you have a browser before you do anything

Not sure if you are aware but IE8 is still BETA software.

This means that Microsoft are still working on it so it is not finished yet.

It is always risky installing BETA software as it can corrupt your PC so think carefully before installing any BETA code on your main computer.

Thanks Ethel, I downloaded Firefox 3 as suggested, then removed IE8. This left me 'without 'IE. Went to Microsoft IE 7 site via Firefox (Blackle/Google) and redownloaded it- it kept all my favorites etc. which surprised me!. I now have two browsers which will cover if one goes down! It was a bit unnerving but I,ve got there. Many Thanks once again , your a gem!!!
To Vehelpfulguy, Thanks for the info on Beta, I will follow your instuctions and leave these programmes alone in future. It's pity I did not know this earlier, it would have saved me the anguish .
Glad you are sorted.

Some sites don't work very well with IE8. However, IE8 has a "compatibility" button next to the refresh button. So if you have a problem with a site just press this button and it'll look like it did in IE7.
