as an avid coro viewer i feel i missed something years ago, were david platt and darryl morton adopted otherwise as their respective families speak manchunian how come they have a broad and in the case of darryl morton an over the top leeds (pudsey) accent ??

I'm from Manchester and I've rarely heard a genuine Manc accent on Corrie in years - mind you I wouldn't dream of watching it nowadays. To me they all sounded like they were from Bolton or Accrington, yer knohhh...
I would say from Oldham
I much prefer to ignore discrepancies in accents in these programmes, than have actors badly strangulate an accent they are incapable of replicating.

Don't say all actors should be able to adopt different accents -many very famous actors have got away without doing so for years.

An example is James Bond - quintessential English man who somehow had a Scottish accent when Sean Connery portrayed the character.

Ethel that's true but somethings see glaring obvious like darryl mortons over the top leeds drawl when all the other members of his family appear from the other side of the Pennines
(nowt wrong with Leeds drawl my mothers side all from there)
