Problems with extension/conservatory
2 Answers
I want to extend a small sitting room by building an extension with a glazed front and glazed roof. Because I want to create one large room, I've been told that I have to provide heat loss calculations etc. All seems very confusing, the easy option seems to fit internal doors, (making it a conservatory rather then an extension) but they would have to fill a 9ft gap. Any suggestions?

This is what my next door neighbour did and he has never been pulled up on it. BTW, I haven't told you to do this, its just a suggestion!!
I have converted an already existing extension into a conservatory with 2 solid walls, one glass and a glass roof. I don't have any doors into my kitchen as I proved by doing the heat loss calculations that the pilkington K glass had a lower emissivity than what was already there. I looked up how to do the calculations on the web. My application was approved by Building Regulations and I have the relevant paperwork (helpful for when you want to sell). You have to drag your mind back to GCSE Maths however...
