Hi, I've used this site for a number of years now but not for anything of a serious nature, just "what's the name of that song?" type questions. However, I' am going to ask my girlfriend to marry me and as its a secret and I need some anonymous advice.
Basically we're going to Australia in 6 weeks and I'm going to propose on one of our lasts nights over there. My problem is the ring. My plan was to post it to my uncle in Adelaide and pick it up there but that poses a couple of problems; if the royal mail lose it they only insure up to 500, my home insurance won't cover it if the RM lose it and finally apparently there is a customs charge! The other option is just to take it with me but my GF might find it or I might lose it or worse I have to propose in the airport if security find it!
I would definately take it with me and keep it on me at all times.Either in a shirt pocket, trouser pocket, fresh-up bag.I think you're worrying too much about losing it,unless your in the habit of mislaying things why should you lose it ?
why dont you ask her before you go and then the whole australia trip can be about talking about what a wonderful life you are going to have together. !!!
would you normally take something like a rucksack as handluggage? if so i'd put it in a zip up pocket inside that. or at the bottom of the bag in your mp3 player case or something similar. your girlfriend shouldnt find it unless she is snooping around looking for it basically. and security wont stop you for having a ring in your handluggage. and if she finds it, she finds it. id imagine she wouldnt say anything, she'd just excitedly wait for you to pop the question!
phone the airline and ask if you can propose on the the plain they could keep it secure and the piolot could make a big annoucement over the tannoy dead romantic awwwwwwwww
Agree with previous posts, keep it on you at all times, if she sees it then I'm guessing that she wouldn't say anything either! I certainly wouldn't! Don't think the plane proposal would make me swoon, I'd rather be proposed to over a romantic sunset dinner or something similar with good views, good company and a good wine (champagne preferable actually!). Not that I think about these things too much...! lol
