excited about the start of autumn?

Now that the mornings are crispy and the evening fresh it's a sign that the leaves are gonna turn to rusty golds. I LOVE autumn....it is englands prettiest season i think

I do love the colours of the leaves but i dont like the thought that winter is fast approaching.

I love autumn for the colours and that the weather can be sunny without it being too hot. It's a lovely morning here at the moment, crisp and cool but sunny which means that the day will be a pleasantly warm one.
I don't like the fact that winter is following and the days are getting shorter though

The colours of autumn are so varied and beautiful and as the sun comes down to kiss the tip of the mountains goodnight,the sky turns to orange then purple the whole world seems to glow, then the sky goes mauve,then black and suddenly millions of stars appear as if small diamonds had been scattered on black velvet, we are indeed so lucky to live in such a beautiful country as Britain.

Not sure how I feel about the turning of the seasons.

Poets adore autumn, but I've always associated it with death. The leaves dying and falling and the days darkening. Horrible dampness that seems to go on forever, but.....my husband is starting to change my mind. he says the leaves and trees are sleeping for a time, just waiting to be reborn for springtime, so perhaps I will take that line of thought.

On the plus side the waders, ducks and geese are coming in to shelter and the winter birdy visitors are starting to arrive. The local birds are also just appearing in our garden, so, yes, perhaps autumn ain't so bad as I thought!

ray what a lovely way you have of describing nature's beauty ! The autumn is a wonderful time of year with the colours, and as Cetti says with visiting winter birds, etc but like earlier posters I don't like the darker evenings, etc.
But that is the way of the seasons.

Lucky you yogasun, to have ospreys nearby. It is a beautiful autumn day here - I've been out in the garden supposedly tidying it but I've actually been watching and listening to 4 buzzards which is a much better way of passing the time! You have a lovely way with words ray by the way.

Autumn has been my favourite season since I was very young. I hate the hot weather. Also, since I became a wine maker, Autumn is the best time to fill up the freezer with fruit to take me through the winter.

My thoughts on autumn.

Fortunate am I to see,
The birds ascending from the trees,
This autumn morning full of color,
Misty sunrise, a quiet hour.

To know how blessed I am this day,
That I have seen creations way,
Of taking from me pain and sorrow,
And tells me I shall see tomorrow.

How fortunate I have been,
To have stumbled on this scene,
This moment of perfect hush,
Before the sound of human rush.

I will see a winter�s day,
A watery sun that seems to play,
A song of light through the trees,
A promise of springtime on the breeze.

The summer sun that brings the light,
To tell me that it�s all just right,
No matter what we humans do,
We are only passing through.

But all this glory will be here,
When we have lived our many years,
And every autumn, winter, spring,
More beauty will creation bring.

I like the autumn as long as it's crisp,sunny and dry !
Damp and murky is not for me .I'm really a summer person .I love the hot weather.I must be the only one who does!
Anyway autumn must be round the corner as these peculiar birds that I have in my garden are gathering nuts already .So having bored the whole AB with my picture I will bore you too ! Don't open it if you are afraid of small furry creatures :))

What a fabulous pic...and I'm glad you love these adorable little creatures, too. I think ours might be on their hols, but last year we had 13!! (Hope I'm thinking of the right creature)
