Pesky Wax

I have lots of scented candles that have burned down the middle leaving a thick ring of wax around the outside that hides the flame. Any ideas how to remove this excess wax? A sharp knife leaves an ugly uneven edge and is much too much like hard work!

I always have candles aglow & have the same problem with big church ones. I usually end up using a very sharp knife to level the tops too.

Another little tip is to keep the wick short - I find that helps to burn the candles more evenly. Good luck!

You can buy candles with the outer layer of wax removed, thus avoiding the problem.

Sometimes this is bad candlemaking where the wick is simply too small for the wax diameter.
