Cleaning Solutions for Carpets

Whats the best clening solution for carpets. I've used Vanish in the past but is there any other brand or subtance i could use that effective?

I've been told that using baking soda is brillient anyone else use it?

Fizzy water like the Perrier kind is really good. Must be the soda in it.

You don't say whether you are spot cleaning or doing the whole thing..

I've always used warm water and with a little added Stardrops. It's a multi purpose cleaner. I used to do carpets the hard way, big scrubbing brush, hands and knees. Finish against the pile. Good result.
