No runners on my strawberry plants

I bought some strawberry plants last year and had a small crop,this year i had a quite large crop,but for some reason they havn't sent out any runners.anyone know why this happend? Thanks

Firstly, if the plants were of the Everbearing variety (as opposed to Day Neutral or June Bearing) they may have very few runners. Secondly, if you experienced a late frost after the growth period had began, runners may not be produced. All varieties should have the blooms pinched off the first year to encourage good root development.
Keep in mind that most Strawberries are, of course, perennials and may need at least one season if not two to develop before expecting much of a harvest...
you dont say how old your plants are and what varity

the plants are around 18months old and the old runners are just over a year old, i had lots of runners off them last year but even the plants from them have no runners at all,sorry i dont know the variety
