I�ve just witnessed extremely bad behavior at my local chinese where a RabC Nesbitt lookalike tore the face off the waiter for no reason whatsover other than impress his company. Very, very loud and boysterious!

The waiter at the restaurants English was better than the Scots guy and it wasn�t his first language, I honestly couldn�t work out what he was saying apart from the foul words!

I spend most my holidays in Scotland and tend to go to Glasgow for a weekend every December. I have NEVER experienced rudeness of any kind and think the Scottish people are one of the friendliest nationalities ever.

On the other hand, I worked in London for 5 years. the people down there were ignorant as hell and rude and intolerant.

Is it any wonder I am planning to move to Scotland?!!!

I have to say some of the loveliest people I know are scottish including two very close friends of mine who have always looked out for me and a guy I met volunteering over 10 years ago who still writes me lovely letters and photos of what he's been up to all over the world.

S.K.SWEDEN, if you check your facts I don�t think it was entirely the Scottish people who caused all the damage in Manchester alot of other football club supporters were there to support the Rangers fans and were causing alot of trouble so I wouldn�t just blame the Scots for the mess.

Well puddicat you can apprecaite my question then. I only have limited knowledge of the Scots that is why I asked the question. I�ve just stuck up for them in SK SWEDENS answer even though I did say I had experiences with some Scots fans when they were here for the football, I don�t blame just them for the mess of the city. I don�t hate the Scots, I just haven�t seen them act in an orderely manner the couple of times I have been in their company.

Maizy, as a foreigner it is hard to distinguish between football fans and the nation as a whole, they all look rough to me!

Oh and I did a charity 24 hour jailbreak once and hitched with my partner at the time from Aberystwyth to Glasgow.

We were given such a warm receiption when we got into Scotland, people donating to the charity were were raising for, a shop who gave us a hot drink when we asked for directions and a taxi driver who gave us a free lift to a better hitching spot.

We ended up at Gretna Green services in the middle of the night at below freezing and were huddling by a petrol station trying to keep warm while waiting for the rigs to get moving again and a guy in the shop came out and insisted we come in and warm up and got us hot drinks and insisted we stay in there in the warm until the traffic started up.

We ended up in Glasgow at the end of the 24 hours and found a Mackinnon Mills. It was Sunday and not open for another hour but there were staff in the carpark who we asked about opening as we needed a postcard and receipt to prove where we got to.

They insisted we come in, gave us a hot breakfast, gave us a postcard and offered to stamp and post it for us, offered us sandwiches and a drink for the trip home and gave one of their staff time off to take us to the nearest service station to start the journey home.

We were so touched by the way we were treated.
