how do u change folder backgrounds in xp to add pictures etc. i cant figure out how to do it

Right click on the folder and choose "properties".
Under the "Customise" tab there's the option to add a picture.
The picture only shows in "thumbnails" view, otherwise you can change the icon completely from a folder to something else.

I think you misunderstood me stevie21, I meant a folder, when you actually enter it has a picture on the whole screen behind the file name etc. (behind it) I could do it using windows 2000 professional but i cant figure it out on windows xp. I didnt mean on the folder icon
I'm afraid Microsoft in all it's wisdom left out that feature in Win XP....so. you would need a third party piece of software to do that.. have a look here...  http://www.sodabush.com/products/windowpaperxp/index.php

Thanks alot, im only asking becuase i tranferred folders to the new OS and now the folder backgrounds have the same pictures as before but on xp and i want to get them off
...mmm....OK well the link I gave is a free program and only a couple of Mbs or so..I guess you could probably use it to get rid of the backgrounds you have if only by putting an all white picture in there ;-)
