As a cook,I know too well how satisfying it is to make something lovely and simple.....and make people happy in the process. It is very gratifying. These young-and in some cases not-so-young people who can't/won't cook are really missing out on one of life's most pleasurable activities. I learnt from my mum...and I know my daughter has learnt from me....last week she emailed me that she had done a curry for all her uni housemates and friends-10 in all!!!...I know this is something that will continue through her to her children. Simple really.

morning pasta i am a trained cook also,my 2 sisters are both excellent cooks, my mum was bloody awful at cooking, she would make rice pudding with the consistency of a mattress, make lentil soup that with no stock, added these awful dried vegetables, looked ok, but tasted of nothing,i have taught both my sons to cook,my youngest is better than me to be honest lol,i really feel the urge to see if i could teach some of these people the basics!!!!
I didn`t see the programme, but read an extensive review of it. I think it`s quite terrifying that communities just a handful of miles from each other can have life expectancy differences of up to 20 years plus due to their diets. Obviously, smoking & drinking can affect the figures, but the sheer number of "fat" kids I see around (no pun intended) disturbs me. I`ve never forgotten some tubby mum giving her little darling burger & chips through the school railings `cos she & her salt/sugar/carbs addicted brood didn`t like Jamies school dinners. I doubt they`ll make old bones!
