please can anyone help me on this? alistair darlings increase of bdp to � 50,000, i have been told that in a joint account with sufficient funds �100,000 woul be paid should the bank or building society become insolvent, but have seen nothing to confirm this in the press, i would be grateful for any informacion on this matter. also does the bdp apply to british account holders living out of britain but within the eec.

FSCS would pay compensation up to the limit of �50,000 per person, per authorised institution.

So, �50k for a single person, �100k for a couple

Excellent article on this in todays Mail on Sunday goes into it a lot further. Seems where and how funds deposited counts too.(Fianancial section)
