Hello.
I had a slight bump in my car just before Christmas, I touched the car in front's bumper and caused a small dent. My car had no damage at all.
Everything went through insurance (I am fully comp) but last week I received an invoice from other Insurance for car hire for 13 days at a cost of �620.00 !!!! now I would have expected 2/3 days while car was being repaired but 13 days !!!!!!!!!!! Is someone having a laugh and why send me the invoice to pay and not my insurance.

I'd check this with them and check your policy documents very carefully before parting with any money. And yes, for the damage you describe, 13 days is taking the p***.

I don't know why I got the invoice and my insurance are not being very helpful over it. I have read policy and can't see anything about un-insured losses (which is what I have been told this is)
If it turns out that the payment of a hire car while the other car was being repaired is down to me then I would pay it but again I feel that 13 days is just a joke. I would have thought 2/3 days would be tops for the minimal damage the other car had. My friend had a near write off and her car only took 4 days to repair so totally at a loss to why this took 13 days.
Not too good - why is it that insurance companies become unhelpful in these circumstances ? It costs them money !
I'm no expert in car insurance but I can't see why this is classed as an 'uninsured' loss. OK so you caused damage to another vehicle. They have claimed against your policy for the cost of it being repaired. Your insurance company should meet that cost and all that it entails. The only cost I could see them passing on to you would possibly be the excess. Unless your policy is only 3rd party, fire & theft perhaps ?
Are you a member of a motoring organisation like the RAC ? - they would be able to advise further.

Pass it on to your insurance company without contacting the other party in any way. You paid your premium, your insurance company accepted the risk for the agreed premium, and it's up to them to sort the situation out. You'll have to pay your excess but don't lose sleep over it. Nothing to beat a good arguement [sorry...debate].
Actually, when my car went into the shop it took 12 days, but that was to replace the panel and respray/livery/logo. etc and because the first replacement arrived damaged and had to be reordered!
I would want to see why the job took so long and check if the garage was less than efficient as you shouldn't be liable for that.
