Bad cold - won't go away.

It's coming up to two weeks now, and I still have a chesty cough and the sniffles - anyone else had one this long?

if the coughs not too bad it's nothing to worry about. a much rest as possible ,eat well and maybe a tonic will help you get over your horrible cold. if the cough is very troublesome or leaving you short of breath you may have a chest infection in which case you see your gp for some antibiotics. get well soon.

Overdose on Vitaman C....6 tablets a day.....that'll shake it. Beechams powders if ur feverish with Vit C pills. Keep away from me.....'cause I dont want it! 'Course, if you smoked...?????

I remember a GP on Jimmy Young's programme (yes, it was a long time ago!) on Radio2 saying that there was never any point in going to the doctor with a cold. However he also said that no cold ever lasts longer than 10 days. If it appears to do so, you've either got a secondary infection or an allergy. In either case, it's then time to consult your doctor.

take effervescent vit C tablets every day in water or lemonade, and drink loads of red wine, I'm sixty one and haven't had a cold for 48 years

my partner swears by steaming fill a bowl with boiling water aput your head over and cover with a towel so the steam dont escape try and stay there till the water starts to cool. My partner does this a few times a day these days her colds only last a few days i did it last time i had one and it really does help. especially just before bed it clears the airways hope that helps

If it's been going on that long then may be worth a trip to the GP in case you have a chest infection or similar.

I went to see GP for something else and had a similar thing at the time, she asked how long I had been coughing like that, listened to my chest and diagnosed an infection and gave me antibiotics for it.
