Password protected web photos

I work as a surveyor and although I run an almost paperless business, when sending reports through to clients, I have to add pictures to the document (anywhere between 3 to 50 pictures each of 3 meg) which I obviously PDF to reduce the sizeof document, this of course reduces the quality, alternatively I burn the images to disk which is time consuming.

Is there a free product (of cheap) out there where I can load the images and enable only my client to view via password yet allowing only myself to add/remove images.

there are few or no free options for business users - presumably you charge the going rates?
do you transact business via a hotmail account?
and
do you actually need to use 3Mb pictures - a 3-400k jpg holds enough detail to clearly show the weave of a garment at 10 feet

what you need is your own webspace - create a blind link to a folder and email the URL -

What really winds me up is seeing sign written vans with a hotmail or AOL email address on them.

If you can afford to sign write your van you can afford to get a domain and host it

Yeah get your own webspace, then either give the clients a secret URL, or to look even more professional make a homepage where they have to login with a user and password to view their photos.

It's not that hard, or expensive, and it will look so much better.

I agree with all of the above. Here's what I'd do.

If you don't already have a website and hosting, get this. Buy a domain from somewhere like 123-reg.co.uk (such as a .co.uk if you only trade in the UK, but it doesn't really matter that much), which will set you back �5 for 2 years, or something like that.

Then, buy hosting from somewhere like web-mania.com. It's a small UK hosting company, but it's pretty reliable when I used to use them, and does just what you want. �25/year.

Then sign up with Google Apps for your Domain. It just means that Google handle your email system, so you don't have to worry about it. This means that you could get [email protected] very easily. Looks far more professional that @hotmail.com or similar, as Chuck says.

Once you have hosting, this means that you can very easily (with an FTP client) put a password-protected zip file online of all the photos. You could then email your clients and say "download your photos from yourdomain.co.uk/photos/client-xyz123.zip".
