Council Tax for someone in the Army
My Stepson has recently passed out of the Army and is now based down London way in local barracks.
His Mum, now living alone with 2 children, has recently asked him to give her 50 per week towards house keeping / coucil tax. Im a bit confused as to why she is wanting this or being charged for it when he is not living at the home address.
Has anyone come across this personally and if so, are you still paying for them or not?? This really only applies to parents claiming discount Council Tax I think.

PHEW - that was a long sentence.
Hi, Ive spoken to the Council Tax department and they advise that they wouldnt charge her for him being at the house - if they did all she would have to do is contest it with him being away and provide a letter from the Army showing he lives with them 95% of the time!
I agree with the cash cow comment --- if only I could fill you in more!!
