Bra sizes....Variations of

I have found that depending on what site i visit i get a different measurement.
Female first = 38A
Bonprix= 36C
Uniquely woman = 38B. That is quite a variation dont you think!

Think i'll go to M&S and get a real person to do it. My husband offered to do it, but just looked and said "good handfull"...!!! Men :)

It's true, I think it depends on the fabric and shape of the bra though. The same size in a "balconette" bra will be a different shape in a sports bra, for example. It really depends on how much the fabric stretches and what shape your boobs are too! One size will fit an apple shape better than the same size pear shape. Sizing is really just an indication, I always take 3 different sizes in the changing rooms with me (D and DD, even E sometimes in 40 and 42), as I go by comfort rather than size. As long as your boobs fall into the cups comfortably, without any bits cutting into your flesh at front or at back, and you feel "supported", it's fine! Btw, always try a bra on by fastening at the longest, as the bra will stretch with time.

I went to M & S and asked to be measured. The lady measured me told me the size, which was one size bigger than I buy, But then said you will have to try different ones on as they are all different,!! I bought three from there and they where all far to big so had to have a refund on all.

max we are the same size by the look of it. Have you been able to find a strapless bra that really fits and stays up.?

I've never actually needed a strapless bra, Lilacben, but I have tried a few on. To answer your question: no, I don't think you can get a strapless bra that will support this size. Gravity is stronger! lol
I think strapless is definitely limited to small chests, and I wouldn't be comfortable in one myself; I'd feel "naked", if you see what I mean! I might be wrong though, you never know what they come up with these days! Maybe the NASA will get onto it....lol

i went to Bravissimo to get fitted, and there's no measuring involved. They gauge it by the size of bra you're wearing, it's age, how it supports you, etc. then they make a good guesstimate. There's a little bit of trial and error, but i came out with some lovely bras that fit me beautifully :o)

It's the whole go up a cup size if you go down a back size that confuses me! i'm a 38GG, but if i went to a 36 i'd have to get H. why the hell does it have to be so complicated!

I find this as well so tend to get measured or try things on in each shop before I buy.

One of the ladies in M&S told me what size to go for in Debenhams as their sizing is different as I think it is everywhere.

I go from a 36G to a 38FF but it takes me ages getting measured as when I first walk in they think I'm a different size to what I actually am and it takes ages of them going through sizes before they realise I am around the size I said in the first place.

I've had it in both M&S and Debenhams, they look at me and think I'm around a 40DD despite me telling them it's the other way round, I have larger cups and a smaller frame but they won't have it until I've gone through all the sizes and they see for themselves.

I need a boob reduction!

Trinny and Susannah were harping on at us for ages about most of the female population wearing the wrong size, but its no wonder when the sizes and methods of measuring vary so much!!
