I am experiencing problems with with my internet which keeps crashing and my screen reverts to my screen saver. Ther is no pattern as sometimes it is perfect for a long time and the next time it crashes as soon as I open it.

I have contacted VIRGIN who are my Broadband supplier as I thought it was a problem with their box but they have checked their signal which is OK. They also said if it was their problem I would get a message "signal not available contact your supplier" which I do not get.

They have told me they cannot help me and that the problem is with my Software.Incidently it took me four attempts to enter this message.

Can anyone help a frustrated pensioner?

From the content of your post, it appears to be your browser that is crashing, rather than any problem with the actual internet connection.

If you're using Internet Explorer, you could try searching the Microsoft website for an update or a later version of the program. (Alternatively, try running System Restore and choosing a date prior to when the problem first started).

However, the vast majority of the 'regulars' here in AB's Technology section ditched Internet Explorer ages ago. Firefox is faster, more secure, more flexible and more stable. Download the program and use it instead of Internet Explorer:

Alternatively, quite a few people are now using Google's new browser, Chrome:
