At one end of the scale you could answer "I merely view John Lewis as a means to collect my due wages at the end of the week which I enjoyr spending down the pub" But you won't get the job.
At the other end of the scale, you could wax lyrical about what great training they provide their staff, how being part of a partnership means you really feel you share in the values of the organisation, and the hard work part in by the employers might come as a small bonus at the year end (the partnership profit shares, if you didn't know this). Also about how you know they believe in developing people within the organisation to more senior roles.

Do some research. I understand that JL have a very good reputation as employers.
Obviously you want to work for an organisation where you will be valued as an employee and be happy to work. You would also feel that they could give (the ambitious) you a career path to follow and know that with hard work, that path could be followed.
