BMW engine failure

had an alarming phone call from my daughter who had been driving in the middle lane of a motorway when her engine just cut out for no reason,after sitting on the hard shoulder for a short time it started and ran for a few miles and then cut out again.She called the AA but he could find anything wrong.Anyone had the same scary problem it's a 08 saloon series 3

Hi, Just a thought ECU problem, with that year 08 contact BMW at your local area it should still be under warrantee.

thanks twr its a company car so no probs on that score but i don't want BMW coming back and saying there is nothing wrong with the car at least i now have got something to throw at them i don't like the idea of my daughter driving a car that just cuts out, i would be scared to go in the fast lane if that was me, it doesn't take much to lose confidence in a car it would be in the back of your mind all the time,thanks again twr
