Why does your mind instantly forget things?

For instance I was about to research something on the net, looked at the time and instantly forgot what I was about to do.

I know im not the only one this happens to, so why do our minds do this? and how?

Thanks

LOL!! Oh bless, Paul. Well I don't have that problem - not quite so instantly, anyway. It has its advantages though, eh - like conveniently forgetting certain birthdays...borrowing money...that it's your round.....

: )
i forget things easily (due to a neurological condition). but i tend to remember things what i did last week than what i did today!! eeekkk.

Sorry. I had a really good answer but its gone now.
Me too - but I can remember things from when I was a toddler!

i've lost a pair of varifocals (150 worth) & a set of remote control car keys in the last fortnight. I'll be b*ggered if I can remember where I've left them!
I used to laugh at my mum when she would open a cupboard door and then gaze vacantly at the contents.
What goes around comes around!
I said the same to one of my sisters last week mrs_o.

We used to laugh with Mum (not at her), when she couldn't find her purse, glasses, or other bits & bobs.

The same things are now happening to us, so yes, what goes around.....very frustrating at times!
I had to laugh at the gazing vacantly bit. I do so much of that - it's pretty embarassing if I'm at work or out shopping but I do try to make a joke of it.
Like smudge and, I imagine, most people I can remember things from ages ago but not what I went upstairs to get a minute ago
We would have laughed at her, but it only made her worse -poor Mum!
Im 27 now and I know it will come with time but a really am thankful I dont have those serious conditions where you go out for a bottle of milk and dont come back for 30 years because you have forgotten who you are and there you live.
lol bensmum & what..the!
