That humongous bee is a queen looking for somewhere to start next years nest.

Dont let it settle near your home as you will have a hive next year. Kill it, there are plenty more in the woods where they belong.
It is probably a bumble bee queen looking for a place to hibernate during the winter. Do the decent thing and scoop it up with a piece of paper and put it outside when it is warmish. If too cold they can not fly.
You MUST take it off the windowsill. Put it on a shelf and time it. Only then will You have the answer.

I know bee's die once they have stung but no idea how long they live for?
I had a huge nest under my lounge window last year and got a bee keeper out to remove it and he told me that your not aloud to kill bees cos they are a protected species is that right or was I being a tad gullable? (which is why god made me blonde as I do have the odd tendancy to be gullable at times lol)
If you think it's dying give it some honey on the end of a stick,we've done it hundreds of times, they'll feed off it then take off,we've never had them nest near us ,save every one you can.
